Share your views on research into childhood deafness and hearing loss
We are asking deaf young people aged 16 to 25, parents of deaf children, and professionals working with deaf children to take part in a survey that will help us find out what they think are the most important questions that need to be answered about childhood deafness.

Our survey asks you to submit questions you’d like answering about childhood deafness or hearing loss. For example, you might be interested in causes of deafness, health, education or emotional wellbeing.

If you are deaf and aged under 16, we have a separate survey just for you. You can fill this out on your own, or together with your parent.

Join our focus groups for children and young people
The project team are looking for children and young people aged between 7 and 16 to join a focus group so they can ask you about what it’s like growing up with deafness or hearing loss.
The focus groups are taking place in:
- Lancaster, Lancaster University – 22 June
- Edinburgh, Deaf Action – 29 June
- Bristol, Elmfield School for Deaf Children – 12 and 13 July

Once you've registered, we will get in touch to confirm and book your travel. We will pay for your travel to/from the focus group, along with accommodation and a meal allowance if you are travelling far.
Each focus group will be deaf-friendly and child-friendly. We will be playing games, making things, talking in groups and doing some individual work.
How will the survey results be used?
The project team, which includes Aston University, Lancaster University, and University of Manchester, will use the results to create a top 10 list of questions for future research.
This list will help organisations focus their health funding and research on topics that make a real difference to deaf children and their families.
